Põhjala Brewery (에스토니아어: Põhjala pruulikoda)는 에스토니아 탈린에 있는 수제(Craft) 양조장입니다.

이름은 "북부 지방"을 뜻한다.

발트해 연안 주에서 가장 큰 수제 양조장이며 세계 양조장의 Ratebeer "Top 100"목록에 포함 된 유일한 양조장입니다.

2021 년에 회사는 4.61 백만 유로의 매출을 올렸습니다.

Põhjala는 포터, 배럴 양조 및 에스토니아 숲의 재료에 특히 중점을 둡니다.

양조장은 2011 년에 네 명의 에스토니아 맥주 애호가에 의해 설립되었으며,

곧 스코틀랜드 수제 양조장인 Brewdog의 수석 양조업자 인 Chris Pilkington과 합류했습니다.

최초의 Põhjala 맥주 인 Öö Imperial Baltic Porter는 2014 년 4 월 탈린의 Nõmme 지구에

회사의 원래 양조장이 문을 열기 전에 계약 양조되었습니다.

2015 년에이 회사는 탈린의 주요 기차역 근처에 첫 번째 바 "Speakeasy"를 열었습니다.

발트해의 에스토니아의 수제Craft 맥주입니다. (Barrel Aged Imperial Baltic Porter)

맥주이름에서 알 수 있듯이 맥주맛보다 양주맛이 더 강합니다.

알코올 도수가 11도가 넘습니다.

와인(~15%)보다 약하지만 씁쓸한 맛이 강해 더 독하게 느껴집니다.

럼과 버번을 마셔보지 못해서 모르겠지만,

아마도 럼과 버번의 향인듯한 달콤하면서도 강한 알코올의 향이 올라옵니다.

뒷맛은 매우 씁쓸한 스타우트입니다.

Baltic Porter

Porters of the late 1700's were quite strong compared to today's standards, easily surpassing 7 percent alcohol by volume. Some English brewers made a stronger, more robust version, to be shipped across the North Sea that they dubbed a Baltic Porter. In general, the style's dark brown color covered up cloudiness and the smoky, roasted brown malts and bitter tastes masked brewing imperfections. Historically, the addition of stale ale also lent a pleasant acidic flavor to the style, which made it quite popular. These issues were quite important given that most breweries at the time were getting away from pub brewing and opening up production facilities that could ship beer across the world.

1700년대 후반의 포터들은 오늘날의 기준에 비해 상당히 강했으며,

7% 알코올도 쉽게 초과했습니다.

일부 영국 양조업자는 더 강력하고 견고한 버전을 만들어

북해를 건너 발틱 포터(Baltic Porter)라고 불렀습니다.

일반적으로 짙은 갈색에 볶은 갈색 맥아와 쓴 맛입니다.
