독일 뮌헨을 대표하는 맥주회사 중 하나로 옥토버페스트의 거대한 천막의 주인 중 하나이다. 국내에서는 바이엔슈테판이나 에딩거와 같이 밀맥주가 가장 유명하다. 수입사의 적극적인 홍보와 물량공세로 국내에서는 가장 찾아보기 쉬운 독일 밀맥주 중 하나이다. 독일 현지에서도 벡스, 바슈타이너, 크롬바허, 외팅어 등과 더불어 전국구 맥주로 어딜가나 찾아볼 수 있다. 다만 대표라인인 바이스비어에 비해 살바토르나 뮌휘너 헬 등은 보기 힘들다.

파울라너에서 생산하는 것 중 널리 알려진 스타일은 옥토버페스트, 뮌헨헬,살바토어,헤페바이스 이다.

The Paulaner Brewery is one of the best known in Germany but also one of the oldest. The first traces of its existence date back to 1634, when it belonged to a monastic order. Initially, the monks brewed for their own consumption and from 1751, they were allowed to serve beer on holidays. In 1806, the brewery was bought by Franz Xaver Zacherl who was able to enlarge and modernize it. Paulaner has been present since the first Oktoberfest in 1818. In 1979, it was taken over by the Schörguber family. Since then, the company has played on a balance between tradition and modernity, thanks to its production methods and the innovations it has created: the first alcohol-free beer to be produced and marketed. It is also the official beer of Bayern Munich.

Helles

“Helles” means “pale in color,” as these beers are often golden. The German-style Helles lager is a bit rounder or fuller-bodied than light lager and even all-malt pilsners. Helles lager beers offer a touch of sweetness that balance a measurable addition of spicy German hop flavor and light bitterness. The malt character is soft and bready, making it a terrific complement to light dishes such as salad or fresh shellfish, like clams. Clean and crisp, this is a refreshing beer with substance. Low levels of yeast-produced sulfur aromas and flavors may be common.
